One of the themes I plan to blog about from time to time this month is "what makes me grateful." I've also been wanting to share some favorite photos (mostly mine) along with some favorite quotes (definitely mostly other people's!) ;-)
I'm grateful for our vast, ever-changing, often colorful, usually beautiful, always awesome skies out here, so I thought I'd start with this, my blog profile photo, which I took from our deck on the early morning of Jan 2, 2008, and an accompanying quote by one of my favorite poets...
I'll tell you how the sun rose
a ribbon at a time.

:) Great photo. I was just reading an article in the April edition of the Smithsonian magazine that mentioned Monet's "Impression, Sunrise" might actually be a Sunset!

Anyway: the sky is always a fascinating art subject!!

That's so beautiful! I love it out there. You're very lucky to live there!
ReplyDeleteThanks, rift! That was an interesting article! Monet is one of my favorite artists. (And I love Ansel Adams and almost used Munch's "The Scream" on my Frankenbread post! LOL). Those forensic astronomers sure go to a lot of effort and expense to figure out info most people aren't going to care about. They have more patience than I! (And far better astronomy skills, it goes without saying!) ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you too, Vegan Dog's Life! It is beautiful out here and in many ways I am lucky to live here, but like you, most days I'd rather live in Boulder! ;-) (Mmmm, VG Burgers... *sigh*)
Hey you, you're the winner of the dog bandanas! Can you please email me your address? vegandogslife at charter dot net.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
YAY!!! Those bandanas are great, I'm so happy to have won them! Thanks bunches! There is much cheering and barking and general rejoicing throughout Chez Laloofah at the fun news! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat photo is beautiful. Thanks for showing it to us on a larger scale! I begin to see how you can stand to live out there instead of in Maine.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous it is and how lucky (and smart) you are to be able to enjoy it!
