Fire...
Tuesday's sunrise set our skies ablaze
A snowstorm last Friday moves off to the southwest.
(Okay, so it was frozen water. It's Wyoming in December, after all!) ;-)
Air...
A front looms over the Big Horn Mountains Wednesday.
Its approach made the Tibetan prayer flags on our front porch flap wildly,
but when it settled over the mountains we enjoyed some tranquil sunshine.
Here's wishing you tranquil sunshine and happy SkyWatching, too!
Great pics! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteveganelder ~ You're most welcome! Glad you enjoyed them! And did you see my Happy News Update on Willow? :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou live in a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing the photos. Appreciated your comment on my blog. The Pathway of Lights was last Saturday night and literally thousands walked the trail. I'll bet your friends did. Thanks again and please stop by John's Island often. John
ReplyDeleteThat last image is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous trio for Skywatch.
ReplyDeleteI am always in awe of your sunrises. Ours, while I love them, are much more muted affairs. Galah colours in tones of soft pinks and greys. Ours glow while yours blaze.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this trypych - I loved it.
great shots. i really enjoy the clouds. just found your blog ... going to look around more. have a blessed day. ( :
ReplyDeleteI thought you were hanging your washing out to dry until you explained.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, and you live in such a gorgeous place! I hadn't realised quite how 'typically American' it is, to my eyes, anyway! :)

Beautiful captures, Laurie. I love how you linked three of Nature's elements to them, too. So lovely! I also love those flags. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat representation of fire, water and air indeed!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by :)

Fantastic fire shot! Love the gradation in colors.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Looks pretty cold where you are! Your skies are so wintry! Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeletehello laloofah. thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. i read your profile, too. :) i like your blog title a lot.
ReplyDeleteyou live with beautiful views. may you have continual blessings.
Love the light in that last shot - am addicted to shooting into the light at the moment! Barbara's tip of the day for sunbursts is use the tiniest aperture you can for the lens and conditions (I've used f22, even f29 or higher), gives you that lovely 'star' shaped sunburst.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your lovely comments, everyone, and - as always - for your visit!
ReplyDeleteJohn's Island ~ Thank you, and you're most welcome for the comment! I sure hope my Seattle friends partook of that beautiful Pathway of Lights around Green Lake! (Rose, Andrea - did you?) :-)
Maruizio ~ Thanks! That was my favorite of the three as well!
Ellie C ~ I wonder why our sunrises are so different - our latitudes? Sometimes we have glowing sunrises too, especially at this time of year. I'm glad I can share our blazing ones with you, though!
Beth ~ Welcome! I'm a lover of clouds and take a lot of photos of them, so I'm glad you enjoyed them too. I love your moniker! :-)
Inverness D.P. ~ LOL!! I can see how you might think that at first glance! I actually DO hang most of my laundry out, just not on my front porch in a storm. :-)
Penny ~ It's so nice to have you reappear in the Blogosphere, you are missed during your blogging breaks! I'd love to know what makes where I live look "typically American" to you. It is a pretty place, and these three photos actually do little to show it off (but there are others that do, scattered hither and yon around this hear blog!) :-)
Molly ~ Thank you, I was glad I noticed that elements theme and am happy that you appreciated it! I love these prayer flags, bought them in Red Lodge several years ago (AdventureJo was with me at the time, as a matter of fact - she's in Bavaria right now enjoying the pre-Christmas festivities and I'm bursting with envy!) They hung under our deck/over our patio in Big Horn, inside the dog's "pooch porch" at Dragonfly Cottage, in the corner of our bedroom at the skanky rental, and now they're really getting a workout on our front porch, which catches a lot of breezes and winds. Once they've completely unraveled, I'll replace them. I love seeing them there, especially with the mountains as their backdrop (I can pretend I'm in the Himalaya!) :-)
Linnea ~ You know, most of this month hasn't been bad at all. Lots of sunshine and temps in the 30's, and since it's dry here, it only really feels cold if the wind is blowing hard. Today there was a lot of moisture in the air and it was overcast, and we about froze our butts walking the dogs! The humidity really makes a difference. But I do love our wintery skies (they were very wintery looking this morning!)
ReplyDeleteTexWisGirl ~ You're very welcome! And yes, I have no idea what I'd have named this thing were it not for Mehitable's help. :-) Many blessings to you, too!
Barbara ~ Fun, glad you like that one as it's my favorite in this bunch! I took lots of different shots of that scene - some with the sun right behind one of the flags, some with the sun visible like in this one. Thanks so much for the tip for getting that sunburst affect! I've managed to get it by accident from time to time, so it's nice to know how to get it intentionally. My point-and-shoot does allow you to change aperture settings to an extent, I'll have to monkey with it since we are forecast to have many sunny days this week.
Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSpud ~ Thanks, Spudly! I must say, I really liked this post myself. :-)
