My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.

Which Simpson character are you?

I always did like her best... ;-)

You Are Lisa Simpson

A total child prodigy and super genius, you have the mind for world domination.

But you prefer world peace, Buddhism, and tofu dogs.

You will be remembered for: all your academic accomplishments

Your life philosophy: "I refuse to believe that everybody refuses to believe the truth."

Certainly fits! Well, mostly. (I enjoy tofu, but not tofu dogs. And sometimes I would prefer world domination - as long as I could be the dominatrix. LOL.)

And finally, I simply MUST catch up on my emails! If you're reading this and I owe you one (or a couple dozen), please bear with me a while longer.

I wish I weren't a "Wednesday's Child"

hug me it's my birthday
And I need hugs! Today is not off to a good start. I need to deal with some unpleasant business this morning, for in the mail BW brought home last night there was a very rude medical bill from last summer, from a doctor's office that obviously never submitted it to my insurance (nor did they ever communicate with me about it in any way until now), and that's $1,215 more than it should be! Gee, happy birthday to me! >:-( The bill (and the timing) are bad enough, but this is a doctor's office I never wanted to have anything more to do with, so I'm not looking forward to having to deal with them. I hope to get it straightened out to my satisfaction quickly, easily and EARLY, so I can start enjoying my day. In the meantime, I fear this is about all the enthusiasm for celebrating I can muster...

statue with balloonWhoo hoo, party on.

Okay, now it's evening so I thought I'd write a quick update. Got that stupid bill straightened out quickly, easily and early as I'd hoped (the staggering incompetence that was behind the billing snafu, however, was beyond my powers to rectify!) So, since I enjoyed a happy outcome that was followed by a happier birthday...
Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words. ~Plautus (I'll provide the wine!) ;-)

There is still strong in our society the belief
that animals and the natural world have value
only insofar as they can be converted into revenue.
That nature is a commodity.
And that the American dream is one of unlimited consumption.
There are many of us, on the other hand,
who believe that animals and the natural world
have value by virtue of being alive.
That Nature is a community to which we belong
and to which we owe our lives.
And that the deeper American dream is one of unlimited compassion.
